Marine Stewardship Council

The MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) was founded in 1997 by the environmental organization WWF and the food company Unilever to provide a solution to the global problem of overfishing. Since 1999, the MSC has been completely independent of both organizations and manages the world's best-known ecological certification and labelling program for sustainable fishing. Our vision, our mission Our vision is of oceans where marine life thrives and is sustainable for present and future generations. Therefore, our mission is to contribute to healthy oceans through the MSC program. By recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing practices, influencing consumer choices when buying fish and seafood, and working with partners, we aim to transform fisheries into a sustainable economic sector.
