Its 44 member companies develop and distribute plant protection products and fertilizers for agriculture and horticulture as well as pesticides for the hygiene, home and garden sectors, and they develop products and processes using biotechnology. This branch of industry is characterized by a far above-average intensity of research in the associated areas of life sciences. It has a high level of scientific expertise in agricultural sciences, chemistry, biology, biotechnology and ecology. This is the basis for the innovative strength of this industry, which is a world leader in the development of new, environmentally friendly products and processes. In the crop protection sector, more than 10 percent of turnover is invested in research and development. Competence and innovative strength guarantee the future viability of the industry.
