We are not bakers by profession, but we are, without a doubt, competition-level ginger bread eaters. We scoured endless stores, supermarkets, high-quality food markets and bakeries trying to find a ginger bread that met our finicky ginger bread standards and tasted like LENCHEN. But what we found was truly disappointing; it was a wasteland of uninspired products. So we decided to take matters into our own hands. Why not set up our own ginger bread manufactory to produce our LENCHEN? An innocent thought with unforeseen consequences: after several months of planning and endless hours of work in our tiny home kitchen, we were set to open our own LENCHEN company.

Every year, Oma Lene enchanted her beloved ones once again with her famous ginger bread. And because we are also truly in love with her ginger bread recipe, we named LENCHEN after her. As a matter of fact, we can trace the origin of the recipe back to Oma Lene’s grandmother Johanna. The recipe has been passed on from generation to generation, from women to women for over 125 years now and has been making children’s eyes sparkle at the sight of it under the Christmas tree from the very beginning. We want to preserve this heritage and want to carry on this tradition, now in its sixth generation, so that numerous generations after us can also have the chance to indulge.
