Hello, I am Katrin, chocolateholic and founder of elikat.

For some years now, I can't take certain things while eating anymore. But what, I did not know for a long time. Thanks to a dietary consultation and various tests, the diagnosis became official. - Sensitivity to egg - soso. - Sensitivity to wheat - fortunately no celiac disease. - Lactose intolerance - well, it gets worse. - Fructose intolerance - please something, och nö!

But I love cakes and sweets more than anything. My first way went to the internet. I searched online for chocolate and cakes that can do everything. Gluten-free, vegan and without fructose. Unfortunately, my viewfinder was inconclusive. Lactose-free chocolate was simple, fructose-free biscuits, yes I found that too. Gluten-free was just coming anyway. But all together? I couldn't find that. But as the saying goes, life gives you lemons, bake a cake out of them. So I sat down in front of my computer again and researched sugar types, read vegan blogs and pages about gluten-free baking. I created my own chocolate cake. Baked from vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and fructose-poor ingredients. Finally something sweet again. I was happy about a cookie, oh no a cake. I began to take my cake with me everywhere. Birthday parties, company parties, housewarming parties, .... I always had my cake with me. And not only I liked my cake, also the others.

Through my research I found out that there are more people like me who have to or want to do without several ingredients in their food. So my cake filled a gap in the market. Why not close this gap?! In December 2015 elikat was founded. I founded elikat with a friend. Since we both still worked full time, my co-founder left elikat after a short time. But from the beginning until now there are delicious cakes made of vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and fructose-poor ingredients.

In order to finance elikat, I also go to work full time. I live according to the principle, don't spend money that you don't have. That's why the first cakes didn't have any designed labels. In the beginning there were white labels, even printed from the local printer. The money from the first sales was then invested in a graphic designer who designed beautiful labels for me. And according to this motto I continue to design elikat. Test, win, invest, grow.

Did I know anything about the food industry? No. Do I know where the road will lead me? No. Does that keep me on my toes? Is that stopping me? Absolutely not!

In this sense: Live sweetly, live freely, live elikat.
