About Augustiner-Bräu Wagner

1328. This figure does not adorn the emblem of Augustiner-Bräu Wagner KG without a reason: In 1328, the Augustinian monks began brewing beer in their Augustinian monastery near the Cathedral of Munich. For almost 500 years the monks kept brewing their beer right in the Augustinian monastery - selling it in their, among the people of Munich, ever so popular "Klosterschenke" (monastery tavern). In recognition of the exceptional quality of the Augustinian beer, the ruling Monarch exempted the monastery brewery from all taxes back then. Of course the tax exemption has long since become a thing of the past. Just like our Augustiner-Bier is no longer brewed by monks wearing the Augustinian order's habit, but by our experienced brewmasters who use selected regional raw materials.
