Not So Fast Food: Starbucks Takes Its Sweet Time At Drive-Thru
A recent study of fast food drive-thrus shows that Starbucks, which is the world's largest coffee retailer, takes the longest time to serve a customer.
QSR, a business-to-business magazine that focuses on limited-service restaurants, recently conducted a study and published results on driv-thrus, based on speed of service, accuracy, impact of pre-sell on timing, stations in use, issues experienced, service attributes, and suggestive sell.
"Things may change rapidly in the limited-service restaurant industry, but there's at least one thing that always manages to stay the same: the importance of the drive thru," writes QSR in its report. "Across the industry, companies regularly see 60-70 percent of their business come through the outdoor lane, with customers expecting speed and convenience more than ever before."
Starbucks took 299.80 seconds in average to serve a customer, while burger giant Wendy's took the shortest time with 169.11 seconds. Dunkin' Donuts came in at second with 181.03 seconds and Burger King third with 201.18 seconds.
In terms of accuracy, Carl's Jr. is the most accurate in the US among fast food chains. It had a score of 97.6 percent. The least accurate on the list is Panera, with a score of 82.6 percent.(dpa)
