EU Commission approves Pepsi takeover of Sodastream
The beverage giant Pepsico has received approval from the EU Commission to take over the Israeli manufacturer of spa equipment Sodastream. There are no competition concerns against the deal, the Brussels authority announced on Monday. The businesses of both companies had little overlap.
The companies had announced the planned takeover for 3.2 billion dollars (around 2.8 billion euros) in August. With the Sodastream system, a special bottle is filled with tap water and inserted into a device that carbonates it./vsr/DP/stw (dpa)
