Solar Foods partners with Sensapure Flavors

Solar Foods has partnered with Sensapure flavors, an American company specialised in creating flavours and flavour systems used in functional beverages and products for active lifestyle brands. In collaboration with Sensapure, Solar Foods has developed new flavour combinations for its product concepts for ready-to-mix protein shakes and ready-to-drink protein drinks made with Solein. These concepts are aimed for consumers in the United States, showcasing Solein’s suitability as an ingredient for products with a variety of different flavours.
Solar Foods creates product concepts to demonstrate Solein’s capabilities and suitability for different use cases across consumer products, especially in the Health & Performance nutrition category. The product concepts for high-in-protein and sugar-free ready-to-drink protein drinks and ready-to-mix protein shakes can be easily adjusted to meet different consumer needs, from supporting an active lifestyle or condition-based nutritional needs to boosting physical performance.
To develop products that meet the preferences of consumers in the United States, Solar Foods partnered with Sensapure, an American flavour house specialising in creating great-tasting, functional beverages and active nutrition products. The companies have co-developed multiple flavour combinations for protein drinks and protein shakes powered by Solein.

Endless flavour possibilities with Solein
Sensapure will present the first concepts at the global food science and innovation expo IFT FIRST in Chicago July 13–16. The deliciously creamy and full-bodied ready-to-mix Solein® Shake is available in two indulgent flavors: Chocolate and Cinnamon Roll. The shake contains 20g of protein per 10 fl oz. (approx. 300 ml) serving. The ready-to-drink Solein® Protein Drink will be available in two flavours: rich and spicy Chai and a deliciously tangy and sweet Velvet Lemon. The drink contains 32g of protein per 12 fl oz. (approx. 355ml) serving.
Compared to other protein sources like whey or pea, Solein is nutritionally unique, as it combines the best qualities of dairy- and plant-based proteins: it has all the 9 essential amino acids and BCAA’s without cholesterol or saturated fats. In addition to the protein boost, Solein gives a rich and creamy consistency and mouthfeel, while delivering iron and Vitamin B12, which plant-based proteins lack.
“We constantly explore and discover the various uses of Solein. The flavour is especially interesting as it’s something completely new that hasn’t been tasted before. Thanks to the mild, slightly nutty umami flavour of Solein, it can be used in various combinations without off-notes, bringing creaminess and full-bodied richness to the product”, Benitez-Garcia continues.

For Sensapure, Solein presented an exciting opportunity to be one of the first to work with a completely new ingredient. Before becoming a stand-alone flavour house in 2017, Sensapure began as the flavour applications department for one of the largest manufacturers of nutritional supplements in the United States.
