GROSSMANN has been designing, building and selling individual wafer baking machines in Germany, Europe and all over the world for more than 65 years. The company can look back on a long history characterized by tradition and innovation. It all began with Hubert Großmann (1917 - 2000), a trained mechanical engineer, who founded the company. After the Second World War, he left his home in the former GDR with his wife and two small children to build a new life for himself in West Germany. His starting capital was a briefcase with tools and a head full of good ideas. One of his business ideas was selling ice cream. However, the ice cream cones needed for this were very hard to come by in the post-war period. He therefore built his own hand-held ice cream maker and produced his own ice cream cones. Surprisingly, other bakers also asked him to build such a machine and he was soon able to go into production. That was in 1950 in the small town of Fredeburg in the Sauerland region - and the beginning of GROSSMANN wafer baking systems. While the first baking machine still fitted into the trunk of a car, the systems became larger and larger over the following years and the range became more and more diverse. There was a lack of space for production and growth. After several relocations, a new building was erected in Winterberg-Züschen. After training as a design engineer, the eldest son Dieter Großmann joined his father's company at the beginning of the 1960s and they continued to expand the company together. A few years later, the second son Lutz Großmann joined the company. In the meantime, the company was exporting worldwide with increasing demand, and the Züschen site became too small. A larger plant was built in Frankenberg/Eder, 30 km away from the current company headquarters. The move took place in 1981, at the same time as GROSSMANN Maschinenbau GmbH was founded. Hubert Großmann retired from the operative business and transferred responsibility to his two sons. Dieter Grossmann managed the company until 2003, supported by his younger brother Lutz. Grossmann's wafer baking machines have long since been used to produce not only wrapped ice cream cones, but also a wide range of different wafer products. The company supplies small and medium-sized manufacturers as well as customers in large-scale industry. With many years of experience and using high-quality and proven technology, implemented by qualified employees, the machines are designed to meet customer requirements. Today, Grossmann is one of the leading manufacturers of wafer baking machines in the world, still family-owned and currently headed by Managing Director Lutz Großmann.
