About Somerdale International

Somerdale was founded in 1990 by directors Stephen Jones and Ernie Waldron. From small beginnings in a Taunton townhouse, Somerdale has grown to have a turnover in excess of £32 million of which approximately 95% is from export.

Today, Somerdale operates from expansive offices and cold storage facilities situated close to the arterial M5 motorway, just outside the Somerset town of Wellington.

Somerdale exports great tasting British and Irish cheese to major retailers, wholesalers, distrbutors and foodservice providers in over 50 countries across the globe. Somerdale is the leading exporter of British cheese to the USA with container shipments leaving for New York every week.

Having long established partnerships with many of the highest quality cheese producers in Great Britain and Ireland allows Somerdale to offer a comprehensive range of award-winning traditional cheeses. At the same time, Somerdale works with its supply partners to develop new cheese, brands and packaging formats to meet the diverse requirements of the international marketplace.

Somerdale International Ltd has received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade in both 2009 and 2016.
