Thailand looking to fill in void after Russia sanctions
Thailand will be looking to export more of its agricultural goods to Russia, after Moscow imposed sanctions on the West, a report said Tuesday.
"Russia has shown high interest in importing foods and farm crops from Thailand after it banned imports from the EU and the US," said Chutima Bunyapraphasara, permanent secretary at the Commerce Ministry, the Nation newspaper reported.Chutima said Russia would have to relax some sanitary requirements to allow increased imports from Thailand.
Thailand is Russia's largest trading partner among south-east Asian countries, with trade between the two nations reaching 4.6 billion dollars last year.(dpa)
