About Unverschwendet

Since 2015, we have made it our goal to reduce the amount of fruit and vegetables thrown away.

Unwaste exists since 8 March 2016 and is managed by the siblings Cornelia and Andreas Diesenreiter from Schwendermarkt in Vienna, together with their wonderful team consisting of Christl, Niki, Lydia, Julia, Louise, Mia & Kevin. The first jars were sold as early as 2015, at that time still in a club. Since then we have been moving in big steps, always with our mission in mind. In 2015 we only sold 500 glasses, but by 2016 we had sold 5000 glasses, then 35,000 and last year, 2018, 100,000 glasses. Also this season we want to save about 100.000 kg again.

We have already been offered over 5 million kilos of top quality fruit, which are thrown away for a variety of reasons: the fruit is too big, too small, ripe at the wrong time, not the right colour or simply too much. Our aim is not to seek and teach the culprits in the complex construct of our world, but to educate and above all to offer a good and sustainable solution. Sustainability as pleasure. We also use all this data to program an intelligent system that helps us to better deal with surpluses.
