What is behind FoodLoop?

FoodLoop (FL) is a sustainable service label that has developed an innovative application in the form of a networked software solution for food retailers (LEH) and consumers. The tool consists of an inventory management system-based application and a consumer-based application that are coupled together. The focus of interest is on food with a low shelf life that is marketed and, contrary to common practice, should not end up in the dumpster.

Food retailers now have the opportunity to automatically mark food products with a short shelf life as discount offers in their merchandise management system at the point of sale. These are then communicated to the consumer in real time via the FoodLoopApp in a personalized form. With the help of this innovation, food waste in food retailing is reduced, internal merchandise and batch management is optimized, and consumers are informed promptly and individually about price promotions.
