Fast-food chain KFC to double number of restaurants in Germany

25-Jul-2016 - Germany

US fast-food chain KFC plans to more than double the number of its restaurants in Germany in the coming years, the head of the company's German subsidiary told newspaper Die Welt's Sunday edition.

"In the next five years, our branch network will grow to more than 300 locations," Insa Klasing told the newspaper.
KFC, which specializes in fried chicken, currently has 140 restaurants in Germany.

Whereas most branches were once drive-ins situated in major cities, "today we are also on the market with smaller restaurants," Klasing said.

However, KFC has a way to go before it beats McDonald's, Germany's biggest fast-food chain with almost 1,500 branches. (dpa)
