N-chroma, the first spin-off researches and develops new methods to use yeast to colour all types of food, textiles, and cosmetics. The natural way in which the food sector is currently applying the methods is ‘not stable enough’ according to this start-up company.
The idea to found N-chroma was inspired during one of the lessons of ‘New Venture Creation: from idea to business plan’ offered by WUR. The primary focus of the company is the food sector, because earlier market research had shown that food producers have found the N-chroma product to be useful.
Vaccinations
BunyaVax was founded to further develop and market the new vaccine technology developed by Wageningen University & Research. BunyaVax has exclusive global rights to the underlying patents that make this technology possible.
Compared to current methods, BunyaVax’ technology increases the speed with which new vaccines are developed. This enables them to produce a new vaccine more quickly in case of a potential epidemic, for example. The company is now focused on developing experimental veterinary and human vaccines to substantiate a broad applicability and the commercial feasibility of the technology.
The spin-offs receive funding from the financial instrument Take-off. Take-off receives money from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
