German Packaging Prize for the Krones BEVkeg

05-Oct-2015 - Germany

Very gratifying news for Krones AG. On the eve of the FachPack 2015 in Nuremberg, the company was awarded the German Packaging Prize for its innovative BEVkeg packaging idea in the beverage sales package category. The German Packaging Institute has thus (not for the first time) honoured Krones for its exceptionally innovative packaging concepts.

Krones AG

The Krones BEVkeg, the all-inclusive solution in the market for non-returnable PET beverage kegs, has been awarded the German Packaging Prize for 2015.

The BEVkeg is an all-inclusive solution in the market for non-returnable PET beverage kegs. Depending on the output class involved, the BEVkeg can be supplied in two different variants, firstly as a preform and secondly as a container that is rolled up following the blow-moulding process and correspondingly compressed.
Thanks to the option for container compression, transportation to the filling company is optimised, and in addition, by reason of the low internal volume, the amount of CO2 flushing before the filling process is reduced. Numerous advantages that impressed the Packaging Prize jury.

The central contact partner and vendor for the BEVkeg container unit is the Krones subsidiary KIC Krones. The machinery and systems technology required for filling, labelling and palletising the BEVkegs comes from Krones, while the brewery or the restaurateur gets the BEVmate tapping technology from Micro Matic, a company specialising in tapping systems.
