Dr. Oetker acquires baking powder manufacturer in Mexico
Bielefeld-based family company Dr. Oetker is expanding its presence in the Mexican market, having acquired Grupo Rexal S.A. DE C.V., one of the leading manufacturers of baking aids and syrup, effective June 1, 2017. Situated in the Mexican city of Monterrey, this family company was founded in 1930 – among other things, its 115-strong workforce produces “Rexal” baking powder and “ProMesa” syrup.

As Richard Oetker, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dr. August Oetker Nahrungsmittel KG, explains: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to strengthen our market position in Mexico by acquiring a successful family company. Grupo Rexal’s products are an ideal addition to our portfolio and an especially good fit in the area of baking as well as with our strategy and core expertise.” In 2015, Dr. Oetker had already acquired Mexican dessert and gelatin dessert producer D’Gari, allowing it to move into the Mexican market.
