Successful closing of Dr. Oetker’s takeover of Egyptian market leader for bakery products and desserts
The family business Dr. Oetker from Bielefeld, Germany, has successfully closed the takeover of the Egyptian market leader for baking ingredients and desserts Tag El Melouk. As announced in mid-June Dr. Oetker will now enter the Egyptian market which is highly interesting for the company since the Egyptian culture embraces a long heritage and tradition in baking and shows a high affinity for sweets and desserts. The parties did not disclose the purchase price.
Tag El Melouk was founded in 1954 in Cairo and with its two iconic brands “Cook’s” and “Tag El Melouk” it offers a wide range of products in the categories baking ingredients and dessert powders. For that purpose about 400 employees work in two production facilities in Cairo and achieve double-digit million Euro revenues.
