Metallica now selling whiskey

03-Sep-2018 - USA

The US-American metal band Metallica has gone under the distillers. On their homepage on Wednesday (local time) the group announced to sell their first whiskey with the name "Blackened" at the end of the week - an allusion to the song of the same name on the album "... And Justice For All" from 1988.

"It's not often that we announce a brand new, unprecedented Metallica venture, so we are incredibly excited and proud to introduce the Blackened American Whiskey," the statement says. The spirits, created in cooperation with the renowned distiller Dave Pickerell, have more in common with the band than just their name: During the maturation in the barrel the whiskey was filled with selected Metallica songs, which promoted the molecular interactions and thus "formed" the taste, the band members wrote.

"Metallica's ultimate goal is to connect with our fans - through albums, concerts and also through any other way that creates a bond," the musicians explained their professional excursion into distillery. The whiskey will be available from the end of the week in selected American cities and in two online shops./haw/DP/jha (dpa)
