Lotus Bakeries is expanding its production site in Lembeke
The new production hall is set to make Lembeke the largest single-product cookie production site in Europe
Jan Boone, CEO of Lotus Bakeries, held the groundbreaking ceremony for an additional production hall at its Lembeke site. This new building will enable further expansion of Biscoff® production in Belgium, supporting the brand’s continued international growth and strengthening Lotus Bakeries’ balanced production footprint across three continents.

Lotus Bakeries
Biscoff® has been produced in Lembeke for more than 90 years, reflecting the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship, process know-how and quality standards. Today, the Lembeke Biscoff® factory mainly serves the European market, while the dedicated Biscoff® factories in Chonburi (Thailand) and Mebane (US) supply the Asia-Pacific region and the American continent respectively.
All required permits have been obtained, and construction has now formally started.
The expansion will increase the total production capacity and further consolidate Lembeke’s strategic role within the Group and across the global cookie landscape as the largest single-product cookie production site in Europe. The first production from the new facilities is expected within two years.
From the outset, the project has been designed with strong attention to its surroundings. Lotus Bakeries is implementing extensive greening and landscaping measures, including low-noise technologies, noise-reducing infrastructure, the replanting and reallocation of trees, and the creation of nearly one hectare of new green space. These efforts aim to integrate the new building harmoniously into the environment.
