Morato Group , CEA Italia and Jaus bakery are joining forces, bringing together expertise, production capabilities and market presence to create a new European bakery hub. The addition of the long-established Italian-German group marks another milestone in Morato Group’s medium- to long-term growth and strengthening strategy, positioning the Group as one of the leading European players in the sector , with a direct presence in key markets and an even broader and more integrated industrial expertise.
CEA Italia and Jaus Bakery bring to the Group an industrial heritage spanning more than 60 years , with an entrepreneurial culture closely aligned with Morato’s, as well as two production sites in Germany – in Weißenhorn, Bavaria, and Dinklage, Lower Saxony – approximately 310 employees, and a wealth of know-how and relationships developed in the baked goods market.
With CEA Italia and Jaus Bakery joining the Group, Morato Group exceeds €500 million in consolidated revenues and now comprises more than 1,800 employees , 19 production sites strategically located across Italy , Spain , France and now Germany , and 54 production lines , covering more than 130,000 square metres of industrial facilities and producing more than 180,000 tonnes per year .
Through the Daily Bread and Jaus brands, the Italian-German group enriches Morato Group’s portfolio with specialisations that complement its existing offering, particularly baguettes and rustic breads, a segment in which it holds a leading position in Italy and Europe. It also strengthens production capacity in buns, sandwich bread and toast bread.
“The integration of CEA Italia and Jaus Bakery represents a decisive step in Morato Group’s growth journey, built over the years through industrial investment, innovation, digitalisation and external growth. The significant investments we have made now enable us to unlock new business opportunities and further improve industrial efficiency. This project stems from a vision shared by all our shareholders and stakeholders, underpinned by a common culture centred on product excellence, customer focus, market knowledge and the determination to continue investing and innovating in support of sustainable growth. The scale we are achieving through this transaction provides us with new opportunities to grow and compete internationally, while maintaining the focus on people and products that has always been part of our history”, said Stefano Maza, Chairman and CEO of Morato Group .
The synergies also extend to geographic markets. Jaus significantly strengthens the Group’s presence in the DACH region , leveraging its industrial footprint, distribution model and operational flexibility, while Morato Group brings its established presence in Southern and Western Europe , creating new development opportunities across the entire product range. The integration will therefore enable the Group to broaden its commercial reach, optimise distribution networks and develop new connections across markets, reinforcing an internationalisation model based on local production, proximity to customers and the sharing of expertise throughout the Group.
Within this strategy, sustainability represents an industrial asset and a driver of investment decisions . It creates an opportunity to progressively share the experience, expertise and initiatives developed by the companies, extending the commitment to greater energy efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint across a broader industrial perimeter.
The ambition to combine the creation of economic, social and environmental value is now further reflected in the transformation of the parent company, Morato Pane S.p.A., into a Benefit Corporation .
“This is an ambitious project that we approach with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility. We will continue to invest in quality, innovation, efficiency and sustainability, while enhancing the expertise within the Group’s different companies and maintaining a long-term vision focused on creating value for all stakeholders,” Maza concluded.
