RAPS presents compound solution for vegan roasts
New plant-based concept combines ease of use with authentic flavour
Spice and ingredient manufacturer RAPS is expanding its range of plant-based products with a new concept for vegan roast alternatives. Called 'Compound Vegan Roast', this product offers a functional solution for the creation of modern, meat-free main courses based on plant proteins. RAPS also offers complementary seasoning mixes specially developed to enhance the flavour of vegan alternatives to roast pork, beef and poultry.
Consumers are increasingly seeking wholesome, plant-based alternatives to familiar products. According to Innova Market Insights, main dishes are one of the fastest-growing categories of plant-based products made with natural ingredients, having grown by 57 per cent (CAGR) between June 2020 and June 2024. Following the successful launch of plant-based cold cuts, burgers, sausages and nuggets, RAPS is now focusing on classic roasts.
Functional base for purely plant-based roasts
The Compound Vegan Roast is a functional mixture that ensures an appealing texture, good binding properties and stability. RAPS also offers additional seasoning mixes for flavour enhancement, which have been specially developed for vegan alternatives to roast pork, beef and poultry.
The compound can be processed flexibly and conveniently on existing production systems for the straightforward creation of end products, and without the need for additional technological adjustments. It is both heat- and storage-stable, and ideal for vegan roast dishes in meal kits, frozen products or tinned food.
The recipes also allow for fewer additives and therefore support clean label concepts. The 'vegan roast beef' and 'vegan roast pork' variants can achieve a Nutri-Score A in end applications, thus appealing to nutrition-conscious consumers.
Wide range of applications
Whether as a traditional roast dish, part of a plant-based menu or a component of modern convenience concepts, compound solutions from RAPS offer culinary flexibility and can be made vegetarian or vegan. Their modular combination with sauces and side dishes creates a wide range of application options that can be adapted to suit different target markets.
“With our compound for vegan roasts, we are taking the next logical step in the development of plant-based products,” says Klaus Vogt, Head of Product Development for Meat & Alternative Proteins at RAPS. “Our goal was to combine a familiar flavour with technological safety in a way that allows for seamless integration into existing production environments.”
